BEING WITH MY GRANDMA’S

My favorite Thanksgiving would be ANY of them spent with my mom. I lost my mom. Things, while great in their own right, have just never really been the same on holidays without her. There’s a certain love that mom brings, that no one else can duplicate!
When I was little I used to gather around the table with my family and my aunt would always say grace…a few years ago my aunt became blind and her personality changed in a big way but I knew she finally wanted someone else to speak up and say grace but no one was….well that was the year I became the voice for her and my family in saying the beautiful words of grace. My heart became whole as I seen her smile for the first time in a very long time. I love Thanksgiving and my family very much. Great memories for me always. Thank you for letting me share.
While it may not be the best memory it is one I will never forget. Years ago my grandfather was hospitalized unexpectedly during thanksgiving and we spent our holiday staying with him in the hospital. So we didn’t have the traditional thanksgiving dinner but I think we managed to prioritize what it’s really about and keeping our family together and making sure my grandfather felt loved. This will be our first Thanksgiving without him as he just passed last week. So this is a memory I’m holding near and dear to me. I’m in Riverside California.
